Self-publishing for photographers

January 10, 2009

When you want to self-publish an art book using your wedding lab may not be cost effective. Several of our members have used the following services to publish their fine art books. One thing you should be aware of is that most of these self-publishing companies put their logo on your book, or they may not have support for adding UPC / ISBN numbering. If this is important to you, make sure you find out if your book publisher allows you to add/remove as appropriate.

This site is great in that it stores your book online and gives you the opportunity to make it ‘public’ for general viewing by a large audience with print on demand possibilities. You can price your book however you see fit! Pretty quick turn-around time.

Viovio produces a nice product also with a marketplace to showcase your work with print on demand ordering. You can upload an inDesign file, high-quality PDF, or use one of their templates. they have a great selection of different papers and cover-types and cover-materials to choose from.

Nice quality. Great if you can afford to order all at once and ‘stock’ your own book. No on demand printing with the ability to set your price for the general viewing public.

Just introduced to this company and don’t know much about it. From what I can tell it has a more ‘upscale’ feel and better quality that the above. Check it out yourself!
